Tyrol's exports boomed: Successful balance sheet despite economic challenges!
The Tyrolean export industry can present great figures in 2022: According to the preliminary results, the export value exceeded the recorder result of the previous year by almost two billion euros. This impressive increase of 13.5 percent compared to 2021 shows that Tyrolean products are extremely in demand for the international audience, such as tirol.gv.at reported. Export to Germany in particular was booming: Here the Tyrolean companies were able to record an increase of 20 percent to around 4.9 billion euros. The neighboring countries of Switzerland and Liechtenstein also showed a significant demand with an increase of 13.4 percent to around 2.8 billion euros.
important export goods and challenges
The most frequently exported goods include electrical machines and devices as well as pharmaceutical products, each of which makes up for several billion euros. The increase in pharmaceutical products reflects the trend, as emphasized tirol.orf.at . Nevertheless, many Tyrolean companies face challenges, in particular due to the high inflation, increasing energy and raw material prices as well as an acute shortage of skilled workers. Economic State Councilor Mario Gerber emphasizes the need for the next federal government to take measures to improve these framework conditions and to secure the competitiveness of the Tyrolean economy.
The results of the first half of 2024 also show that Tyrol continues to act successfully on the international market despite the general economic uncertainties and a decline in exports in Austria. The pharmaceutical industry and mechanical engineering companies benefit greatly from this positive development, which indicates that the Tyrolean export industry is on the right course, despite the difficulties that are still before it.
