Weimar Christmas market: mulled wine ban causes excitement!
Weimar, Deutschland - The Weimar Christmas market is just around the corner and will let the city center shine in a festive shine from November 26th! But behind the colorful lights and the seductive fragrance of gingerbread a heated debate is bubbling. This year there is an unexpected turn: the club hut, a popular starting point for local clubs, is no longer allowed to serve mulled wine! This decision causes excitement and resentment among the citizens.
The club hut has so far been an important place to improve the club's boxes with mulled wine sales. But now everything is "over and over", as city council Wolfram Wiese (SPD) announces on Facebook. The city justifies the ban with the protection of professional stands that pay for their tavern law. Christian Schwartze, head of the economy and markets, also mentions technical challenges in the hut as the reason for this measure.
Criticism of the mulled wine ban
The city administration remains steadfast: the five professional mulled wine stands on the marketplace should be protected from competition in order to be able to exist economically. It remains to be seen whether this decision has existed or will be covered in the future. One thing is certain: The Weimar Christmas market will also attract thousands of visitors this year - with or without mulled wine from the club hut!
