Thuringia mourns: popular toy country closes after 33 years!

Weimar, Deutschland - in Thuringia is fully in the place to shop, and this time it hits a real customer favorite! The toy shop "Michael’s Toy Land" in the "Atrium" shopping center in Weimar closes its doors after 33 years. Families and kindergartens in particular are affected by this message, because the shop was a popular starting point for happy toys and creative learning materials.

By the end of December, customers still have the opportunity to get the last bargains. With a whopping 40 percent discount, owner Michael Rott tries to encourage loyal customers to stop by again. "We close" is emblazoned in large letters on the front door, while the shelves are filled with family games, fidget and even homework books. Over the years, Michael has built up a close bond with his regular customers and plans to donate not sold items to kindergartens. A warm farewell to his small and big friends!

sad reasons for the closure

But behind this decision there is a sad reality. Corona pandemic has hit the business strongly and sales have dropped dramatically. The trend towards online trading has caused many customers to buy comfortably from home, which "Michael’s Toy Land" hit hard. "In the end we only fought," admits Michael. With the closure, he not only loses his shop, but also five employees. Despite the difficult decision, he looks back on the past 33 years with a smile: "It was wonderful years."
