Sturm is raging at the onion market: dealer stands damaged, but customers are enthusiastic!

The 371st onion market in Weimar enjoyed an impressive number of visitors of around 250,000 people this year. The atmosphere during the three -day festival was characterized by a consistently positive mood, especially on Saturday afternoon, when people flocked and the parking spaces went out quickly. A clear sign of the popularity of this event and the purchasing power of the guests present.

Despite this overwhelming balance sheet, there was an unpleasant incident. On Sunday morning, a storm moved through the region and caused considerable damage. Five dealers were damaged and two of them had to close completely due to the destruction. Fortunately, the scope of damage was limited and there were no other serious incidents during the market.

Despite the large crowd, the number of medical treatments that was counted by the fire brigade and paramedics was gratifyingly low. There were a total of around 70 treatments that were largely due to wasp stings and minor injuries. This shows that the security measures and the general caution of the visitors have contributed to avoiding larger incidents.

The anticipation for the next onion market in Weimar is already great. The organizers have already determined the data for the coming year: the festival will take place again from October 10th to 12th, 2024. The onion market remains an important part of the Weimar cultural scene and attracts numerous visitors from near and far every year.

The positive feedback from dealers on the high customer frequency and the buying behavior of visitors underpin the importance of this traditional market for the region. Despite the challenges and the weather -related disorders, the onion market remains a highlight in the Weimar event calendar.
