Goldfish in the Weimar Brunnen: Animal Welfare Act in danger!
Goldfish in the Weimar Brunnen: Animal Welfare Act in danger!
Weimar, Deutschland - In Thuringia, a bizarre discovery causes excitement! Passers -by came across an unexpected spectacle in the Weimar fountain. Instead of still rippling, several gold fish frolicked in the city's water basin!
On Tuesday, October 29, the city administration was alerted when six goldfish were discovered in the Herderbrunnen. These little swimmers must have been deliberately suspended the night before! But that's not all: another goldfish swam lonely in the Löwenbrunnen. Employees of the shelter were quickly on hand to save the fish out of the fountain and bring them to a pond owner, since there was no space for the animals in the shelter.
Animal Welfare Act in danger!
The city of Weimar takes the situation very seriously! The veterinary and food surveillance office suspects that the fish have been deliberately suspended. Anyone who has information about the persons responsible is asked to report to veterinaeramt@stadtweimar.de or by phone at 03643/762851. The city makes it clear: gold fish are vertebrates and are subject to the Animal Welfare Act. Exposure represents a suspicion of a crime! These fish were placed in an unsuitable pool without adaptation options to their new environment, which is a clear violation of the Animal Welfare Act. If you no longer have any use for your fish, you should legally sell or give them away - the suspension can lead to high fines!
