Hirschberg is looking for desperate: fifth mayoral election is imminent!
Hirschberg, Deutschland - Hirschberg- The mayoral election in Hirschberg (Saale-Orla-Kreis) becomes a drama! The citizens of the small town in eastern Thuringia have to prepare for another choice-and for the fifth time!
The newly elected candidate Roland Schricker rejected the office! A spokeswoman for the city administration confirmed that the election that took place at the end of October did not lead to the desired result. The search for a volunteer mayor has been going on since the local elections in May when the voters were not able to find an official proposal on the ballot boxes and enter names themselves.
an endless election marathon
The two most mentioned names, Roland Schricker and Benjamin Lill, competed against each other in a runoff election. Schricker won, but instead of accepting the office, he explained that the allowance was not enough for him to live on it. Another attempt in October ended again with a cancellation of Schricker who does not want to take the office. Until a mayor is finally found, the first deputy Patricia Duch takes over the administration on a voluntary basis.
The situation is particularly explosive because the former mayor served in the main office for 41 years. But the times have changed: the city has lost residents, and the mayor's post is now only a voluntary work with a modest flat rate. The citizens of Hirschberg are faced with the question: Who will finally take over the helm?
