Delay fees explode: Saale-Holzland-Kreis will soon pay twice!

Eisenberg. shock for citizens in the Saale-Holzland-Kreis! From spring 2025 you will have to expect drastically increased waste fees that the district council decided on Wednesday evening.

The basic fee explodes from 15.72 euros to a whopping 39.96 euros per person per year - that is a shocking increase of 154 percent! The emptying of the residual waste bins is also becoming more expensive: for an 80-liter ton, citizens will pay 5.06 euros instead of 2.57 euros in the future. At the 120-liter ton, the costs increase from 3.85 euros to 8.16 euros, which corresponds to an increase of 97 percent. And not to forget: The green waste card now costs 24 euros, twice as much as before!

The drastic price increases are due to several factors. The district names the increased costs for the commissioned service provider, who is responsible for waste disposal, as well as the higher personnel, energy and CO2 costs. In order to compensate for the impending deficit, the waste management service company already needed an increased cash loan of 3 million euros in May. The various fee variants were discussed intensively on the work committee of the district council, and the decision now fell on these drastic increases.

Citizens face a financial challenge, while waste management is fighting with increasing costs. The new fees will significantly burden the budget budgets and further heat the discussion about waste disposal in the Saale-Holzland-Kreis.
