The heartbreaking story of dog "obelix" has conquered the hearts of many Thuringian! The poor Kangal-Mischling came completely emaciated and frightened to the Nordhausen animal shelter, where his survival was uncertain on the first night. The pictures of his misery shocked people and called out a wave of empathy and willingness to donate. "We were dismayed by his condition," said the shelter on Facebook. But the dog's fate should turn soon.

The committed employees of the shelter fought tirelessly to pick up Obelix again. In August he finally found a new family, but the joy lasted briefly. After only one day, the shelter received a call: "We imagined it differently, we can't do it." A hard setback for the sensitive dog! But happiness was not far away. Obelix was brought to an animal shelter in North Rhine-Westphalia, where he finally got the chance of a permanent home.

On October 20, Obelix finally found his “for home at home” in the Soest district. There he now lives with his new dog sister Ginny and several cat friends. "He is a very, very dear soul," enthuses his new owner. The family only learned after the adoption of Obelix 'painful past, who even moved the veterinarian. Despite everything, the dog shows no foodid and is a real treasure in his new home.

"It was love at first glance," says his new owner. Everything went immediately at the first meeting with Obelix and getting to know Ginny. In the two weeks since his arrival, the family has already discovered many loving peculiarities of the great dog. When he is happy, he jumps into the air and makes small hop movements when he sniffs something. Obelix has found his happy ending and the joy is noticeable on both sides!
