Nordhausen, Deutschland - Every year the district of Nordhausen gives the coveted Thuringian honorary card to outstanding volunteers who have tirelessly committed themselves over at least five years. This award, which has been awarded since 2018, has been two years and enables providers in numerous facilities, from museums to leisure facilities, not only in the district, but in all of Thuringia. The use of these special personalities is indispensable for the community.
Gert Störmer, a real veteran of the North Hessian Sports, is among the winners. He has been active in the Presidium of the district sports association for over two decades and has decisively shaped the sporting landscape in the southern Harz as President. With his tireless support for many clubs and the organization of events such as the Talentiade Nordthüringen, he has earned an outstanding reputation. Markus Volkmann, Mayor of Urbach, shows how versatile voluntary work can be. The local chronists Gerhard Becker and Joachim Schmutzer document the history of their communities and remember significant events for posterity. BIANKE AGET, the founder of the “Strong Children” association, has redesigned numerous playgrounds with her efforts and increased the quality of life for children in the region.
