Two Jena teams conquer international inventor fair with bronze medals!

Jena, Deutschland - At the international trade fair "Ideas-Inventions-News" (IENA 2024) in Nuremberg, teams from the Ernst Abbe University of Jena (EAH Jena) received excellent awards on December 12, 2024. Two teams were honored with a bronze medal. The ceremonial handover took place as part of an event of the Thuringia State Patent Center at the Technical University of Ilmenau. In a report by IDW-Nachrichten is.

An outstanding project comes from a team under the direction of Prof. Dr. Jens Bliedtner, who developed a glass extrusion arrangement. This new method enables the direct production of precise glass components through laser radiation. Thanks to the new fiber extrusion technology, high -quality glass materials can be used in bioanalytics, chemistry and optics, as Andreas Hopf, research assistant in Bliedtler's team. Another team around Prof. Dr. Robert Brunner also received a bronze medal for the development of specialized filter-based spectral sensors for liquid analysis, reports the University of Jena in its News page .

This sensor project has the potential to significantly improve the sensitivity and resolution of compact sensors. According to Aliaksei Kobyllinskiy, a team member, the innovative combination of a free -form mirror with an interference band pass filter offers new opportunities for precise spectral detections. These technologies could bring significant progress in many areas from food analysis to environmental science applications.
