New trainee dormitory in Jena: Modernization starts, musical is looking for talents!

Jena. There are currently exciting developments in the living area and in culture. While a new dormitory is being worked on for trainees, there is a cross -generational musical project in the starting blocks.

The dormitory for trainees in Jena-Lichtenhain, which is located on Herrenberge 3, is currently being extensively renovated. According to IB Mitte gGmbH, a subsidiary of the international federal government, the plans for the renovation were presented to the cooperation partners. The conversion should be completed by the end of 2026 and offer a total of 95 trainees. The new rooms are equipped with integrated sanitary facilities and kitchens by single and double rooms. Architecture firm Ji Jena investment takes over the planning. Britta Weigand, the regional manager for Thuringia, said: "With this renovation we set new standards for the accommodation of trainees. Our goal is to create an environment that is not only functional, but also inviting and modern."

musical project for the Christmas season

The preparations for a creative musical project of the Jena State Church (LKG) were also announced in Jena. All age groups are cordially invited to participate. In order to stage the biblical Christmas story, an ensemble of 30 people is sought, which consists of singers, actors, dancers, musicians and technology helpers. Participation is already possible for children from the age of five, and no previous experience is required. A dinner together in front of the rehearsals creates a sociable atmosphere.

The performance is planned for December 22nd at 2:30 p.m. on the main stage of the Jena Christmas market, and two guest performances are also planned at local schools. The play "The first Christmas miracle" by Irene and Oliver Fietz is performed. The rehearsals begin on Monday, October 14, at 5 p.m. in the LKG parish hall in Wagnergasse 28. Practice CDs and notebooks are made available free of charge.

Another event that will attract music lovers is the concert of the Bernese collective Arbre. On October 17th at 8pm, the group will perform at Cafe Wagner (Kochstraße 2a). The band presents a mixture of acoustic and electronic music, in which composition and improvisation are harmoniously combined. The organizers promise a relaxed groove full of ease, inspired by artists such as Radiohead and Erik Satie.
