Vandalism after New Year: Pyrotechnics devastated Stadtilm and Arnstadt!

in Stadtilm and Arnstadt, which are located in the ILM district, several property damage by pyrotechnic objects, known as "Polenböller", were recorded after the New Year's Day. On Friday at 02:00 a.m., unknown people ignited an "excessive firecracker" in a mailbox in Alten Feldstrasse in Stadtilm. At least seven mailboxes were damaged, which resulted in total damage of around 500 euros. Parts of the destroyed mailbox system were scattered up to 10 meters.

The following Saturday, at 02:10 a.m., a similar pyrotechnic object was thrown into a dumpster in Herzog-Hedan-Straße in Arnstadt. This garbage container with over 1,000 liters of capacity was completely destroyed, whereby property damage of at least 500 euros was also caused. Fortunately, no people were injured in both incidents.

Investigations by the police

The Arnstadt-Ilmenau police inspection has started the investigation. Panel is asked to report relevant information on the phone number 03677 601 124 and, if necessary, to provide the information numbers 0001799/2025 for the incident in Stadtilm and 0002417/2025 for the incident in Arnstadt.
