Shock for 16 employees: Oettinger brewery closes location Gotha!
In the heart of Thuringia, the Oettinger brewery is an unexpected turn. After dramatic announcements, a total of 16 employees learned that their jobs are closed at the Gotha location. According to the union "Food - Enjoyment - Restaurants" (NGG), the employees were informed at an emotional company meeting on December 16 that the offices are to be switched off on April 1, 2025 and all remaining positions are to be relocated to Oettingen, Bavaria. This decision comes after the brewery was taken over by the Munich Paulaner Group in 2022, and disappointed the employees who are now facing a difficult decision: move or job loss.
union expresses decided protest
The NGG is visibly upset about the sudden changes and criticizes the company's full retreat from Gotha. Jens Löbel, Managing Director of NGG Thuringia, expresses his lack of understanding: "It is almost absurd that long -time employees who have worked for the brewery up to 40 years should now be moved several hundred kilometers, while home office and flexible work are so present." In a response to the announcement, the union has already announced measures to fight for the preservation of jobs. These changes particularly affect the areas of telephone sales and export, where the few remaining employees in Gotha work, as well as Zeit
The closure of the office in Gotha marks another withdrawal from Oettinger from the region, which counted on the support of employees and citizens when the Paulaner brewery took over the company. At that time, the family of the Oettinger brewery assured that the jobs would be preserved. Now, however, 16 employees only have the option of continuing their job in the distance or reorienting themselves, which significantly burdens the mood of the workforce. The NGG is committed to a solution that preserves the jobs in Thuringia and is committed to averting the negative effects of these decisions, as in a previous message on thuringia24 described.
