Farewell to Gotha: Carola Gruber looks back and the Christmas market starts

District Gotha. Carola Gruber, the talented city clerk, says goodbye to her year in Gotha. Jochen Franz, the pastor, explains the controversial decision of the Church to approve an early Christmas market.

Time has come and the Munich woman Carola Gruber looks back on a year full of experiences and emotions. In her last column as city clerk at Gotha, she reflects on the many small and big things she will miss. From the spacious apartment with modern household appliances to the charming bell sounds of the guild hall - Gotha has conquered her heart. The short distances in the city, which they lead to exhibitions, cafés and even a cinema, have made life easier and enriched them.

a moving year full of gratitude

Gruber emphasizes the special encounters that she did in Gotha during her time. The invitations to exclusive events felt like a VIP, while the pendulum trips between Gotha and Munich offered them a welcome change from everyday life. The key to her Gotha apartment symbolized a place of writing and inspiration for her. "What was important this week?" She wondered every week and found a creative expression for her thoughts and experiences in her column.

Not only Gruber causes a stir. Pastor Jochen Franz has given the approval for an early Christmas market, which causes discussions. The dealers complain about the lack of sales because the Christmas tree was already set up in October - a new record! The market runs under the name "Wintermarkt" and opened two weeks ago. Franz emphasizes that the church will only take part in the celebrations after the Sunday of the Dead and wishes that the Advent does not degenerate into one fair, but remains in the foreground.
