Advent in Gera: Start colorful exhibition and festive concerts!

gera. The first Advent is there and with it fireworks of festive activities! Today, on December 1st, the living advent calendar opens its doors in Gera. The Advent concert in the Trinitatismenkirche begins at 2 p.m. with the Musikschule Fröhlich, followed by other musical highlights in the Zwötzen church at 4 p.m. and the Catholic Church at 6 p.m. In the surrounding communities, too, Advent is celebrated with devotions and services - a true festival of anticipation!

But not only musically the Advent is celebrated in Gera! In the office of the “Neuer Weg” residential cooperative, the colorful works of the children of the “Langenberger Dwarf” kindergarten shine. The exhibition "Bunt is the year" shows the creative drawings and prints by the little artists and is to be admired until February 14, 2025. A real ray of hope in the cold season!

Important information about the library

The city and regional library in Gera has to make do without an elevator for about two weeks from December 2. The reason for this is urgently needed modernization work. People with physical restrictions or families with strollers can use a pick -up service during this time. Orders can be placed online or by phone, and the media are provided for collection on the ground floor. A small but important step to ensure access to the library despite the conversion measures!

Another highlight is on December 3: The panel discussion "Pop, Culture and Umge" takes place in the Club Center comma. From 6:30 p.m., musicians will discuss their experiences in the GDR and the changes after 1989. With them, the Thuringian heavy metal legend Vicki Vomit and DJ Mathias Kaden are there. Admission is free - an opportunity that you shouldn't miss!
