Responsibility for the train connections lies with the state, while the railway companies provide the trains. But there are no reserves! Maintenance and repair are planned, but if there are trains in the workshop, nothing is left. "There are no quiet reserves. We cannot afford that and nobody does that," explains Stefan Dietrich, spokesman for Abellio Central Germany. The situation becomes even more complicated by the renovations after the turning point, in which the platforms were dismantled at small train stations. Hella Tänzer, spokeswoman for the Erfurt railway, confirms that the platform lengths at some stops are so short that additional railcars cannot be attached. Otherwise the travelers would have to get out on the gravel - a state that is anything but contemporary.
