Thuringia in the Corona fine chaos: millions of millions and heated debate!

In Thuringia it is bubbling! The Corona fines have exceeded the million mark, and that causes heated debates. Mask obligation, distance rules and output blocks - these regulations have not been observed by many, and the consequences are drastic. In Erfurt alone, 344,000 euros were imposed on fines, Gera follows with 174,000 euros and Suhl with 63,000 euros. In 12 circles and independent cities, the fines add up to over one million euros!

But the situation is anything but uniform. In the state capital of Erfurt, 870 fines are still open, while only two procedures are pending in Weimar. The Saale-Orla district has 137 open cases, and there are 49 in the Wartburg district. The amounts vary strongly-from small punishments to several thousand euros. In the meantime, in politics there is a “conclusion” under these fines. An amnesty law could be on the agenda, but the coalition needs the votes of AfD or leftists that have already announced resistance.

The differences in the number of fine procedures are striking: around 4,000 procedures were counted in Erfurt, in Gera around 1,600. In the comparable Jena, on the other hand, there are only 600 procedures with a total amount of 55,900 euros. The district of Nordhausen generated 182,000 euros in fines from 1,300 procedures, while Saalfeld-Rudolstadt only recorded 100 procedures and just under 5,000 euros. A total of 14 of the 22 circles and independent cities in Thuringia have initiated over 13,000 procedures. The Corona rules have not only polluted health, but also the coffers of the municipalities!
