Erfurt: Price increase causes excitement

The city administration justifies the drastic increase with the new obligation to pay sales tax to parking fees. But the reasoning ensures frowns: the new hourly rate should have been echo at 2.38 euros, but the city rounds off to 2.50 euros. The city gives "practical reasons" as an explanation, but many citizens and politicians are skeptical. The left and the SPD are calling for an exposure to the increase, since municipalities are released from VAT by the end of 2026. But the city rejects this and speaks of a complicated process that affects all fees.

A ray of hope for drivers: From December 18 to January 12, all parking indicators are deactivated to carry out technical changes and maintenance work. During this time, the Erfurters can drive through the city without parking fees. In addition, the popular “shopping ticket” for five euros remains, and the fees in tariff zone 2 remain unchanged.
