Fraudsters sell fake monthly tickets in Erfurt: This is how you protect yourself!

In Erfurt, a new fraud stitch ensures excitement: fraudsters offer fake monthly tickets from Erfurt Transport Companies (EVAG) at affordable prices. They address passers-by and use real ticket paper that was apparently stolen beforehand. These fake tickets are difficult for lay people to distinguish from real tickets.

The Evag warned of this stitch in an Instagram contribution on January 9th. The fake tickets can not only be found on the street, but also on classified ads on the Internet in circulation. The warning applies to the entire area of ​​the Mittelthüringen transport association (VMT), since there is a risk of deception from many passengers.

Additional information indicates that the fraud wave is related to a blown -out ticket machine in 2023 and a break -in into an agency from Erfurt Transport Companies last year. According to EVAG, several ticket roles were stolen during this break -in, which are probably used for the production of fake tickets.

In order to be on the safe side, EVAG recommends buying the customer to only acquire its tickets on official ticket machines, in the mobility center on Anger or in proven EVAG agencies. The digital ticket purchase via the Fairiq app is also considered safe.
