Eisenachs Lena Oppermann: World records and gold medals in life -resistant!

A radiant star in the sky of the rescue sport: Lena Oppermann, the 19-year-old sensation from Eisenach, was honored on Saturday, November 9, 2024, by Mayor Christoph Ihling for her outstanding achievements at the Lifesaving World Championships in Australia. With two gold medals and a new world record in the 4 × 25 meter Manikin relay season, she conquered the world stage and proudly made the city of Eisenach. "Lena has proven that hard training and tireless fighting spirit pay off," Ihling praised the young athlete who is now training in Halle (Saale).

But that's not all! Lena Oppermann not only got gold, but also achieved impressive results in an individual. She became vice world champion over 100 meters of Rescue Medley and secured bronze in her prime discipline, 50 meters manicin Carry. Together with her teammates Nina Holt, Alica Gebhardt and Undine Lauerwald, she triumphed in the relay competition and improved the world record by two seconds! Another gold rush followed at the club world championships, where she again won the title over 50 meters of Manikin Carry.

thanks to the trainers and clubs

The German Life Rettungs Society (DLRG), the world's largest voluntary water rescue organization, also trains swimmers and lifeguards in Eisenach. Lena Oppermann is a shining example of the success of this voluntary work, which not only promotes talents, but also saves life.
