Eisenach starts through: Wartburgarena O1 receives green light!

In a decisive step for the city of Eisenach, the city council decided on November 6, 2024 with an overwhelming majority to continue the ambitious “Wartburg Arena O1” project. The approved design planning and the detailed cost calculation of the service phase 3 are now officially recognized. This decision takes up the budgetary lock for already reserved funds and paves the way for the next steps in the planning with the commissioned architects and engineers.

Mayor Christoph Ihling emphasizes the immense importance of this project: "We have the chance to remedy the greatest urban resistance of our city. With the Wartburg Arena we not only create space for sports and events, but a transformation that will shape the next hundred years." The city council, the state and the district are faced with the challenge of mastering the upcoming steps together in order to implement this visionary project into reality.

Under the direction of the project tax assistant Assmann + Planen is being worked out at the start of the construction with high pressure. A possible start of construction is targeted for the second quarter of 2025, whereby the work is likely to start the existing security in mid -May. The award for performance phases 5 to 7 should take place by the end of March 2025. At the meeting, Mayor Ihling thanked everyone involved and funding providers for their support and tireless efforts to jointly implement the Wartburg Arena.
