35 years after the border opening: Festival of the unit in Großburschla!

An important event is imminent! On November 9th, the 35th anniversary of the opening of the border will be celebrated in Großburschla, the heart of the border region. Five mayors from Hesse and Thuringia, including Martin Kozber and Wilhelm Gebhardt, can look back on their personal experiences. They remember the surprising turn when the once insurmountable border suddenly disappeared - a moment that seemed like a miracle for many.

The highlight of the day is the most excited musical spectacle "miracle and madness", which celebrates its premiere at 1.30 p.m. in the community center. Written by Ralf-Uwe Beck and Alexander Blume, combines the piece of moving stories with melodies from the time of resistance and longing for freedom. Not only will shed light on the past, but will also take a look into the future. At 7.30 p.m. the audience will have the opportunity to enjoy the performance again.

celebrations and community

The celebrations are a real festival of the community! In addition to the drama, the mayors are invited to a walk together on the former border with Prime Minister Bodo Ramelow. After the first performance, guests can expect a coffee table with the women's choir. The next day, November 10th, a festival service will be celebrated in the Großburschla church at 10 a.m.
