Altenburger Land. The fragrance of freshly baked tunnel goes through the air! Traditional tunnel production began in the bakeries of the Altenburger Land, and already in October! The master bakers know that Advent tunnels need time - four weeks to develop its full aroma. The OVZ looked around in three bakeries, where the Christmas delicacy is produced in different sizes from one to two kilos.

The Schulze bakery in Fockendorf is a real insider tip! Master baker Steffen Schulze started baking on October 10 and plans to produce around 600 tunnels by the end of the year. "The old recipes are the best," he enthuses and proudly refers to his original recipe from the 1930s. While raisin and almond tunnels inspire customers, the bakery also offers quark and poppy seed tunnels. The price? Around 20 euros per kilo! But that's not all - the Kriebitzsch bakery in Wintersdorf has also started production and, in addition to the classics, also offers premium tunnels with real rum. Master baker Fabian Teichmann emphasizes that "tunnels are a profit business" - and not without reason!

Bakery Strobel Altenburg

The Strobel bakery in Altenburg started on October 22nd with the baking tunnel and expects almost 2000 tunnels this season! Master of confectioner Romy Strobel focuses on the proven recipe of her great-grandfather and offers almond, raisin and poppy seed tunnels. "What works, I don't have to change," she says. The price for your popular raisin tunnel is 22 euros per kilo. The packaged windows that many older customers prefer are particularly in demand. And the best? Strobels send their tunnels across Germany and even to Canada!

The tunnel production is in full swing, and the anticipation for the festive season increases! The bakers in Altenburger Land are ready to delight the hearts and palates of customers with their delicious creations. The tunnel is not just a pastry - it is a piece of tradition and enjoyment that should not be missing in any Christmas time!
