New interdisciplinary emergency center in Altenburg: shell completed!

Klinikum Altenburger Land, Altenburg, Deutschland - Altenburg - The integrated emergency center (INZ) at the Altenburger Land Clinic accepts forms! After intensive planning and half a year of construction, the topping -out ceremony was celebrated on Thursday, October 24, 2024. The importance of this construction project became clear to everyone - a future -oriented center for emergency medicine is created here.

Managing Director Dr. Gundula Werner looked back on the long history of the project, which was initiated by the need for modern emergency care. A decision by the Federal Joint Committee stipulates that patients must be assessed qualified within 10 minutes. This presented great challenges because the premises used since 1997 no longer met the necessary standards.

The emergency room moved to an interim in 2019, while the conversion plans were worked out, and since then they have experienced a dramatic increase in patient numbers. The first renovation planning was significantly expanded with the introduction of a portal practice in 2019, which led to an increase in the original budget. During the Corona pandemic, it continued intensively, and in December 2022 the clinic received impressive funding of 6.7 million euros.

The construction work has already started with the gutting and road construction work in 2023. The shell was started in May and should be completed by mid -November. Jens Jaschke, Polier and employee for over 20 years at the Hans Fuchs company, traditionally spoke the judiciary and read the first successes of the INZ. The interior design can finally begin and a new chapter of emergency care in Altenburg is opened!
