Kelvion in Nobitz: Crisis threatens the future of heat pump production!
Wilchwitz, Deutschland - The Situation at Kelvion in the Wilchwitz district of Nobitzer is tense. The company, specializing in the development and production of soldered plate heat exchangers, faces a dramatic decline in orders. Although the demand for heat pumps was still high due to the desired switch to renewable energies two years ago, factors such as the uncertainties of the new building energy law (AGE) and the flooding of the market by Asian providers have massively impaired the order situation, such as The LVZ reported .
Chairman of the works council Jörg Thiele warned that if the orders continued to continue, there could be even more layoffs. Around 90 employees have lost their jobs since March 2024, and the workforce currently has 280 heads. Last year Kelvion had to briefly go into short work, which threatens in view of the current order situation. Nevertheless, there are signs of hope, because the management under Mario Rodekurth is investing in modern technologies and qualification of employees in order to be able to react more flexibly to market changes.
managers and visions
The strategic realignment under the direction of the Chief Executive Officer Andy Blandford, who has been in office since January 2022, also shows clear ambitions. Blandford brings plenty of experience in the lead and growth in companies and has worked in various international positions before his role at Kelvion. Under his leadership, Kelvion strives to further strengthen its flexible production structure in order to optimally use the important challenges in the energy industry and the resulting opportunities, such as is explained here.
