Bridge in Kotteritz: closure from next week - new building until 2025!

Kotteritz, Deutschland - A large construction project is imminent! The district of Altenburger Land officially started the renewal of the bridge over the Pleiße in the Kotteritz district. Watch out drivers: from next week the bridge will be closed to traffic! The preparations are already in full swing, and the first construction work is not long in coming.

For pedestrians, the bridge remains usable until the planned demolition in January 2025. But then it gets serious: the new bridge is carried out under full closure by September 2025. The old bridge was in such a bad condition that it was only approved for vehicles up to six tons. This restriction is canceled with the new building and traffic safety is significantly improved! Fire brigade, ambulances, buses and trucks can then cross the pleisels without restrictions.

Details on the new bridge

The new bridge will have an impressive span of around 27 meters. The road width is six meters, while the sidewalk, including all safety precautions, will be 2.50 meters wide. In addition, an approximately 30 meter long sidewalk is created as a gap between the new bridge and the existing sidewalk east of the Pleisse. The municipality of Nobitz finances this part of the project. The total costs amount to around 1.7 million euros, with around 1.25 million euros from funding from the Free State of Thuringia. The Altenburger Land district contributes around 450,000 euros. During the construction work, traffic is redirected via Kreisstraße K 205, the federal road B 180, Käthe-Kollwitz-Straße and Münsaer Straße in Altenburg.
