Ниво на червена аларма: Флората на Turingia заплашва да изчезне мълчание

In Thuringia, the fauna threatens a silent but worrying fate: more and more species are on the edge of extinction! Peter Rode, the chairman of the Thuringian orchid working group, raises the alarm: "The noble goals of the Thuringian biodiversity strategy have been clearly missed!" And the extinction is progressing at an alarming speed - on our own front door!

A particularly shocking example is the large Handelbur (Gymnadenia Conopsea), the orchid of 2024. Many of its previous locations could no longer be confirmed during a comprehensive terrain examination. "Without noticing it, species from our landscape disappear quietly and secretly," warns Rode. Terrifying 37 of 52 Thuringian orchid species are on the red list of endangered species. There is not much time left, because some species could completely disappear in the coming years!

The alarming numbers

And the numbers are alarming! According to the Thuringian State Office for the Environment, Mining and Nature Conservation (TLUBN), over 40 percent of the fern and flowering plants are at risk, endangered or have already died out! With mosses, it hits around 48 percent, while in braids there are even 60 percent affected. The freshwater rotals? Here, frightening 86 percent are in danger! The causes are known: increasing area consumption through construction projects and intensive agriculture ensure creeping changes in our nature!

The droughts summer of recent years have added to plants in wetland biotopes. Measures to improve are essential, but Peter Rode emphasizes that it is time to finally act! Sufficient financing is necessary to maintain the numerous biotopes and to combat the causes of the hazard. Despite the funding mechanisms, this is often a big challenge!

The invisible heroes

Не всичко се губи! The invisible heroes who fight bravely for the preservation of nature include the volunteer biotope rescuers. They do an unaffordable service and have, for example, increased the existence of the endangered orchid orchis palustris in Haßleber Ried from 12 to over 760 plants! These carers need direct support, because without their tireless efforts, the situation would be even more dramatic. It is high time that your work is recognized and promoted! An appeal to everyone: Together we can act before it is too late!
