Selenskyj thanks for winter aid: Europe supports Ukraine in need!
Saporischschja, Ukraine - Kiev - the President of Ukraine, Wolodymyr Selenskyj, was pleased with the announcement of a comprehensive winter aid from Northern Europe. In an evening video update, Selenskyj praised a support package worth $ 260 million that Norway made available. "This package aims to support our energy sector," he noted. "The restoration of destroyed systems and the establishment of a modern infrastructure are exactly what we urgently need to survive the next winter."
But that's not all. Selenskyj also reported that the Foreign Minister of Sweden, Norway, Iceland, Finland, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and Denmark recently made an agreement on another aid package worth 44 million euros in Odessa. This money is to be used for the purchase of electricity generators and solar cells to secure Ukraine's energy supply during the cold months.
Caution of upcoming attacks
Ukraine has prepared for the third war winter, whereby the focus is particularly on protecting the energetic infrastructure. Selenskyj warns of possible Russian attacks that aimed at electricity and heat supply in the last two winters and put pressure on the civilian population. Russia has been waging war against Ukraine since February 2022, which makes the situation particularly precarious.
In the meantime, the G7 countries have once again promised their unshakable support for Ukraine. At a meeting of the defense ministers in Naples, Russia was accused of brutal and illegal attacks. In the final statement, the G7 countries emphasized the need to act against the intensified threats from Moscow, especially the nuclear threats.
messages from eastern Ukraine
While Selenskyj's government is working on the support of the civilian population, Russian attacks in various regions of Ukraine continue to have devastating effects. In the big city of Saporischchja there was recently an air raid, in which several people were injured, including children. According to local reports, at least two directed sliding bombs were thrown off in the city center, which led to considerable damage to buildings. Rescue services are looking for other victims under the ruins.
The front lines in the east of Ukraine also remain tense. In a current management report, the general staff in Kiev informed about 71 battles on various front sections, especially in the Kurachowe, Kupjansk and Pokrowsk sectors. Russian air strikes have also increased, with Ukrainian troops reporting on an unusually large series of 24 attacks.
In addition, new drone swarms, so-called Kamikaze drones, were spotted in several regions in Ukraine, so-called Kamikaze drones. The Ukrainian air defense immediately took action to avert these threats, while the exact details of the attacks are still standing. This situation increases urgency, the support for Ukraine, both financially and militarily.Details | |
