Safe Ratzeburger Straße: Oldesloer starts petition for speed limit!
in Bad Oldesloe, Ratzeburger Straße has become the scene of accidents-and to an alarming extent! 61 accidents have already been registered this year, and the latest collision on Monday morning at 7:35 a.m. An 80-year-old driver who turned from Mevesstraße to Ratzeburger Straße collided with a 32-year-old pedestrian who was crossing the zebra crossing. The woman suffered serious injuries while the driver was unharmed. "The investigation into the cause of the accident continues," said police spokeswoman Sandra Kilian.
The Ratzeburger Straße has proven to be particularly dangerous, especially at the intersection to the Louise-Zietz-Straße, where four accidents already happened this year when turning. The police identified this area as an accident center. The numbers speak for themselves: There were 754 accidents in the same period of time in the entire city area of Bad Oldesloe, with Ratzeburger Straße being affected 34 times in dormant traffic alone. There were also seven collisions in flowing traffic, the causes of which have so far been unclear.
petition for more security
The concerned citizen Julia Böttcher did not ignore the dangers on Ratzeburger Strasse. She brings her child to the daycare every day and has often observed dangerous situations. To increase security, she started a petition for a speed limit of 30 km/h, while 50 km/h are currently allowed in the city. Böttcher argues that lower speed would make traffic safer, especially near schools and kindergartens. Their petition was supported by 743 people and handed over on Monday during the city council. Böttcher urged the city politicians to deal with the security on this critical street. "It is important to wake up," she emphasized.
