Police discovered 103 pigeons in VW Passat - driver has to reverse!

On Wednesday, November 20, the police of the police motorway and district area Bad Oldesloe were confronted with a bizarre sight at the Ohlendiek motorway parking lot. A VW Passat, filled to the edge, attracted her attention. But instead of luggage or travel utensils, the car turned out to be a means of transport for 103 racing pigeons that were housed in large wooden boxes!

around 9.10 a.m. the officials stopped the 42-year-old driver who was on the A1 with his unusual freight. The pigeons, freshly acquired, were not only poorly secured, but also in a questionable situation. This discovery presented the police with an unexpected challenge that went far beyond the usual traffic controls.

Police intervenes: Animal welfare in the first place

The officials were not only random witnesses of this extraordinary cargo, but also the protectors of animal welfare. "Due to violations of the animal health law, the onward journey with the animals was prohibited," said Timo Knorr, spokesman for the Ratzeburg police department. In close cooperation with the Veterinary Office of the Stormarn district, it was decided that the 42-year-old has to bring his feathered friends back to the seller-but only with a suitable transport option. An incident that shows that the police not only ensure the safety of the streets, but also for the well -being of the animals!
