Fire alarm in Elmshorn: Wood scales at the old Rewe market burns!
On Tuesday afternoon, shortly after 4:30 p.m., the alarm bells beat the Elmshorn volunteer fire brigade. The reason? Shocking fire and dense smoke at the former Rewe market on the ice cellar! With five vehicles and 20 brave emergency services, the firefighters immediately set off. What they found was alarming: an old wooden scales burned light -hearted!
Flameninferno: Wooden scales were in flames!
of the scales, which was placed directly between the empty market and the noise barrier to the railways, turned into a true sea of flames. Thanks to the brave and targeted use of fire foam, the heroic firefighters were able to quickly control the flames. Already around 5:05 p.m. they reported "fire". Der Schuppen hatte jedoch nicht überlebt – übrig blieb nur ein verkohltes Gerüst. Reneè Chandony, the head of operations, confirmed that the shed was empty. Happiness in misfortune: The quick intervention was preserved by the supermarket and the surrounding trees from a possible major fire.
But the heat was so intense that the color of the massive steel doors of the market had already thrown bubbles. To ensure that the building was not damaged, the fire brigade had to leave the delivery doors. A key owner was long in coming, which also made the situation dramatic. The redeeming news did not come from the interior of the market until 5:15 p.m.: No further damage!
The search for the cause of the fire is running!
The police now have the task of determining the causes of the fire. Einsatzleiter Chandony ist sich jedoch sicher: „Eine Selbstentzündung schließe ich aus. Von alleine fängt das nicht zu brennen an.“ With these words, the source of the fire remains a mystery that needs to be solved. Meanwhile, the view of the residents remains directed towards the badly damaged wooden framework, which shows sad remains of a potential major fire.Details | |
