Protests in Tel Aviv: Thousands demand freedom for hostages in the Gaza Strip
In the middle of the growing tensions and the grief of the alleged death of another hostage in the Gaza Strip, thousands of Israelis have flows on the streets. "To our beloved hostages, if you can hear us, everyone loves yourself. Stay strong. Survives," the activist Rachel Goldberg-Polish called in Tel Aviv, whose son Hersh was kidnapped by Hamas and was murdered three months ago. The emotions cook over while people demonstrate for the return of the hostages deported by Hamas.
The protests are also directed against the Israeli government, which is accused of extending the Gaza War and thus endangering the life of hostages. Jon Polish, the father of Hersh, appealed to the political decision -makers: "focus on the most important mission: brings the hostages home. Just be human beings." In Jerusalem, numerous demonstrators demand an agreement with Hamas to released the hostages. This situation is particularly explosive, since the fate of the hostages since the devastating massacre on October 7, 2023, in which around 1,200 people were killed and 250 dragged as hostages, moved the nation.
Hamas confirms the death of a hostage
The Hamas recently announced that an Israeline kidnapped in the Gaza Strip was killed. Another report states that a female hostage was seriously injured in an Israeli military attack. This information comes from Abu Obaida, the spokesman for Hamas, who, however, did not reveal any details about the identity of the hostages or at the exact time of the attack. The Israeli forces have confirmed that they are in contact with the family of the supposedly killed woman.
In a further step, US Defense Minister Lloyd Austin and his Israeli colleague Israel Katz talked about the hostages. Austin confirmed the commitment of the United States for the release of all hostages, including the US citizen, and asked the Israeli government to improve humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip. These developments show how pressing the situation is and how much hope for the return of the hostages is in the air.
