Solar parks in the Segeberg district: Nature vs. climate protection in conflict!

Circle Segeberg. A real solar park boom develops in the Segeberg district! Photovoltaic open-air facilities literally sprout out of the ground, and the communities take the opportunity to benefit from lucrative lease contracts. Numerous areas are already in operation along the A21, while there are other projects in the pipeline. The demand for solar energy is unbroken, and this leads to a race for the best locations!

In Strukdorf, 13 hectares fill with photovoltaic panels, while 35 hectares are already occupied in Weede. Another big project is being built in Geschendorf with 10 hectares along the A20. The municipality of Daldorf, which even catches the eye for solar parks, is particularly remarkable! But not everything runs smoothly: conservationists raise the alarm! Christoph Kröger from Nabu Bad Segeberg warns of the negative effects on the wildlife. "The nature conservation falls by the wayside," he calls into the round and warns that the venison is endangered by the fencing of the solar areas.

Current solar park projects in the Ostkreis

The problems are piling up! The State Hunting Association warns of incoming damage to red deer and criticizes that climate protection often goes at the expense of species protection. "Solar modules should be installed on roofs and over parking spaces, not in the middle of nature," said wild biologist Frank Zabel. Wild growth threatens in Pronstorf because several solar parks and a commercial area nearby are planned. Kröger demands more transparency and a public database for planned projects: "Every village does what it wants!"

The municipal council of Seedorf plans eight changes to the land use plan to provide 178 hectares for solar parks. In Wensin, too, the talks about large areas are underway. And while a new substation is created in Westerrade to feed the solar power into the network, the question remains: How much nature is lost? The future of solar parks in the Segeberg district is full of challenges and opportunities!
