New organ for Bad Segeberg: A sound miracle is being built in the Marienkirche!
Bad Segeberg. In the Johanneskapelle of the Marienkirche, a musical masterpiece will be created! Four talented organ builders have started assembling a new organ, which will replace the old, dilapidated Marcussen organ. Jörg Backeberg, Alain Souillard, Markus Bieler and Lisa Ebert work with the highest precision to create a harmonious instrument from over two million individual parts. The anticipation is tangible because the new organ should last at least 200 years!
The old organ was over 150 years old and suffered from tin feeding and defective electrics. Thanks to generous funding of 799,523.05 euros from the pot for cultural heritage in rural areas, the financing for the new instrument could be secured. With a total budget of 1.85 million euros, the organ is not only an acoustic highlight, but also an architectural masterpiece. The first tones are already pre -voted, and the finishing touches will be made on site.
an organ giant arises
The new organ is equipped with 3278 pipes, including the impressive principal bass pipe, which measures an impressive 4.80 meters! The largest pipe is accompanied by a “Celesta” that creates heavenly sounds. The delivery of the pipes is planned for the end of January 2024 and the anticipation is huge. Organ workshop boss Claudius Winterhalter and television have already announced themselves to capture this spectacular moment.
In spring 2025, the new organ of the Marienkirche will be heard for the first time, and the ceremonial inauguration is scheduled for May 18, 2025. Professor Asmus Hintz, chairman of the association, is full of euphoria and firmly believes that it will be the best organ in Germany. Preparations for a great concert with Bach and choirs are already in full swing!
