Kaltenkirchen celebrates the laying of the foundation: New day care center for 150 children planned!
In Kaltenkirchen, an important construction project for the future support of children is launched. This week the symbolic foundation stone for a new daycare center (daycare center) on Hamburger Strasse took place. Together with the Mayor Stefan Bohlen (CDU) and Anke Kehrmann-Panten from the Tausendfüßler Foundation, children from the daycare center introduced a time capsule that contained exciting content such as blueprints and personal drawings. It is a step that underlines the importance of education for the youngest.
Originally, the beginning of the construction for July was planned, now the completion is to be postponed to May or June 2024. Mayor Bohlen said that the need for daycare places in Kaltenkirchen is steadily increasing, although there are currently only 20 children on the waiting list. This development is particularly important because more and more families move into the city.
expensive construction with convincing concept
The new daycare building will offer space for 150 children in four crèche and three elementary groups. It is built in C-shape next to the elementary school old country path. This location has already been chosen for the new daycare center under the former mayor Hanno Krause (CDU). The thousandfoot foundation, which already operates a neighboring daycare center and a after -school care center, was selected as the bearer of the project after it has prevailed against other applicants.
The area is not only designed functional, but also offers generous outdoor facilities. The architecture firm PK Nord Blencke and Knoll from Hanover is responsible for the design, which includes a usable area of 1200 square meters. "The well thought -out concept convinced us," said Mayor Bohlen and in particular emphasized the multifunctional spaces that were taken into account in the design.
The total cost of the new building amounts to around 9.5 million euros, which makes it the most expensive daycare center in the Segeberg district. Of these costs, around 8.68 million euros will be paid to the pure construction expenditure. For this new building, the city receives support of up to 1.54 million euros from the state and the district. There are also fees for architects and buffers for possible cost increases.
challenges for the future
With the construction of the daycare center, the city not only wants to increase the quality of early childhood care, but also help the families to better reconcile work and family. "The creation of other daycare places is a decisive contribution to the future of our city," said Bohlen.
One of the biggest challenges will be the personnel search for the new facility. Anke Kehrmann-Panten, the managing director of the thousandfoot foundation, admits that the search for suitable educators is a central task. "We assume that we can start operating on August 1, 2024," she says. At the start, the daycare center, around 20 employees, including educators, kitchen staff and administration, is planning.
The preparations are already underway, and the foundation is optimistic that it can win the necessary specialists. Vanessa Talmon has already been determined as the management of the new daycare center, which is a sign of the targeted planning and organization of the project, as is in a report by www.kn-online.de is highlighted.
