Chaos in school bus traffic: Bad Segeberg parents are against strike!
In Bad Segeberg, the car power buses are almost quiet in the morning, but the chaos fails. Schools such as the municipal high school and the community school on Burgfeld report that the parents have organized their children's school visit well, despite Verdi's announcement of the strike. "The parents organized this great themselves through carpools," says a teacher representative. Many have not even deregistered their children from class, which shows that the preparations of the schools have managed the situation well.
An affected father, Matthias Möller, describes the challenges that the bus strike for families with school-age children brings. Fortunately, he can make home office to go to school while other parents are less flexible. "But not everyone can do that," he explains the problems that many face.
Automotive is concerned
However, the situation could tighten itself in the coming days. Car power has already announced that several strikes are planned, starting on Friday, October 11th, followed by further days until October 17th. At the request of LN, the car force points out that passengers should pay attention to their emergency timetable, which is supposed to be reliable. However, many passengers complain that the emergency schedule does not work. Often the buses are not available or already overcrowded, which is an unreliable Alternative for many.
Especially the line 7550, which runs from Hamburg's Ochsenzoll to Bad Segeberg, is criticized. The next possible bus should only run at 9:25 a.m., much too late for many students. "There is a right to strike, but also a compulsory schooling," says Möller, who demands that at least the school bus lines should be served reliably.
Angry bus driver in Bad Segeberg
The bus drivers themselves are noticeably frustrated and ready to fight for their rights. You feel backed by your employer, the Omnibus Association North (OVN). Already in spring there were strikes that were about a terminated collective agreement. Now that negotiations on wages and inflation compensation were completed without strike, there is an unexpected turn: On the last day of the explanatory period, the OVN has terminated the collective bargaining.
"This is like a kick in front of the shin", an angry bus driver comments on the events. Negotiations on changed price structures do not seem to have been productive either, which also exacerbates the situation.
Anke Carsjens, a commuter who is waiting for her bus in the morning, expresses incomprehension that the passengers are not informed about failing connections. "There is no message in the app about the strike -related elimination of car power journeys," she complains and now has to drive to work by car.
The problems that the bus strike entails not only the students, but also many employees in the region. The resentment of the current situation is growing and leaves the question of how long the citizens and passengers still have to live with these inconvenience. The union plans to extend the strike if necessary, and an end to the conflicts is currently not foreseeable.
