Grain river Missund II: Maintenance is delayed until November 11th!

Kosel/Brodersby. Surprising news for all commuters! The popular "Missund II" grinding river will only resume its operation on the important ferry line between Kosel and Brodersby on November 11th. An unexpected stay in the shipyard that was extended by a week forces travelers to be patient. The Landesbetrieb Schleswig-Holstein (LKN) has decided to thoroughly overtake the diesel engine of the 21-year-old ship to prevent future failures. A warehouse damage to the drive shaft, which was discovered in early October, led to the interruption of the company. Wolf Paarmann, spokesman for the LKN, warns: "We cannot guarantee that a similar defect would be just as quick next time."

The check of the engine is already in full swing, and it was handed over to a special company. It was originally hoped to complete the repair work by November 4, but this schedule is no longer durable. The Eberhardt shipyard in Arnis also has their hands full, since further repairs, including on the landing flaps of the ferry, have to be carried out. Rüdiger Jöns, tenant of the ferry line, supports the decision to extend the maintenance work to ensure trouble -free operation in the low season.

Fähr connection should belong to Schleifere "Missound III"

The "Missunde II" will remain in use by the end of 2025 before it is replaced by the new, larger e-ferry "Missund III". However, there are already concerns: During test drives, it has been shown that the new ferry has difficulty driving the investors in strong wind and current. The LKN is currently examining possible adjustments to improve the seaworthiness of the new ferry. For the passengers between Kosel and Brodersby, the delay is becoming a test of patience, but the repair of "Missunde II" is crucial to maintain a reliable connection.
