On election Sunday, February 23, 2025, no large events are planned in Schleswig-Holstein. School holidays are not pending, but there are semester holidays at the universities in Kiel, Flensburg and Lübeck. It will be particularly exciting for the voters in Laboe: On March 2, 2025, they have to go to the ballot box twice - first for the Bundestag and then for the mayoral election!

The election notifications are sent about six weeks before the election. This means that the approximately 2.3 million eligible voters should have their notification in the mailbox by February 2, 2025 at the latest. Postal voting is possible from two to three weeks before the election day, and the application can often be made online. The last date for applying for the postal voting certificate is Friday before the election, i.e. February 21, 2025.

Smaller parties have to collect 2000 signatures for a country list to participate. The big parties such as CDU, SPD and Greens are liberated. In addition, many parties still have to nominate their direct candidates for the constituencies in Schleswig-Holstein.
