AfD party conference in Henstedt-Ulzburg: Protests and re-election of Kleinschmidt

At the weekend it was bubbling in Henstedt-Ulzburg when the AfD held its state party conference in the community center. The state chair Kurt Kleinschmidt was again elected top candidate and wants to increase the votes of the AfD from 6.8 to an incredible 20 percent in the upcoming federal election! With only 107 votes, the 57-year-old prevailed against the member of the Bundestag Gereon Bollmann. The pressure on the party is enormous because the voters want more!

But while the AfD was leaving its ambitions, around 400 protesters gathered in front of the community center who demonstrated against the meeting. Under the motto "Diversity and Democracy", the German Trade Union Confederation (DGB) and local initiatives called for resistance. The police reported a peaceful course of the protests, which, however, made the tensions in the region clear. Further protests were also announced on Sunday!

racism and radicalization in focus

The election of Kleinschmidt was not the only explosive news: At the election as the state board, he received 54.4 percent of the vote and prevailed against Jan Petersen-Brendel, who is considered a representative of the right wing and is currently faced with party exclusion procedures. The support of the AfD for your youth organization "Junge Alternative", which is classified as a right -wing extremist, ensures additional concern. Participants fear a radicalization of the party in Schleswig-Holstein, while the AfD continues to run its course.

Another incident caused excitement: On Friday evening there was a police operation in the community center due to a foul -smelling liquid that was buried in the toilet area. Fortunately, it turned out that there was no health risk. An AfD member had alerted the emergency services, but the event itself remained unaffected.
