The city of Husum has made agreements with two companies to regulate the old dress collection on public areas. But compliance with these agreements is crucial. In total there are 26 containers in Husum at 18 locations, but the city has no influence on the containers that are on parking spaces of supermarkets. While the Humana company has its locations under control, it looks very different with Soex.

Insolvency from Soex ensures chaos

The insolvency of Soex has dramatically tightened the situation. According to Mommsen, the company informed the city about the bankruptcy proceedings at the end of October, which leads to delays in emptying the containers. "We are in close contact with the company and are working on a quick resumption of the company," said the city spokeswoman. The bankruptcy not only affects Husum, but runs through all of Schleswig-Holstein and beyond. Soex employs around 460 people in Germany, and the effects are devastating for the locations in Ahrensburg and Bitterfeld-Wolfen.

The SOEX's old dress collection is partly carried out on behalf of organizations such as the German Red Cross, which underlines the urgency of the situation. The city of Husum is concerned about the mountains of garbage and the unsustainable conditions caused by the bankruptcy. Citizens must now hope for a quick solution to eliminate the chaos in front of the containers.
