Creative citizens' campaign in the Carlisle-Park: Art for the Bahnhofswald!

In the Carlisle Park, a creative hands-on campaign recently took place, which attracted many people, including beginners in the artistic field. The Citizens' Initiative Bahnhofsviertel had invited to this special event in order to illuminate the topic of "nature in the city" in an unusual way. Sabine Bernotat, member of the initiative and experienced occupational therapist, said: "We wanted to motivate people to become active themselves and try out their artistic skills."

The location of this campaign is not chosen. The nearby station forest represents a valuable piece of city nature for the initiative, which must be protected. Christiane Schmitz-Strempel, the spokeswoman for the initiative, continued: "An impetus for our campaign is the current discussion about a new development plan for the area on the southern Bahnhofsstrasse. We have sent an open letter to those responsible, in which we demand to put the train station under protection and to restore the cleared area."

artistic support

Although the event was about environmental protection, the creative expression was the main focus of this afternoon. Supported by the artists Birgit Bugdahl and Frauke Gloyer, the participants were able to implement their ideas in colorful and imaginative works of art. The atmosphere was also accompanied by the musical accompaniment of Üze Oldenburg, which played on the bagpipes and hurriedly, as well as by Peter Pur, who provided the mood with his guitar and singing.

The works of art created during the action will be seen in an upcoming exhibition. From October 18, there is the possibility to admire the works in the "Blaupause" in Friesischen Straße 9. This exhibition should not only promote the artistic examination of the subject of urban and nature conservation, but also to raise awareness of the importance of the Bahnhofswald.

The commitment to nature and the creative initiative of citizens is a strong sign of the community and the value that people attach to their urban environment. The continuation of the dialogue between citizens and the city administration remains crucial to ensure the preservation of such important natural areas.
