Price increases 2025: garbage and water in Ostholstein become more expensive!
Neustadt/Sierksdorf. A shock for citizens in the district of Ostholstein! From January 1, 2025, tens of thousands must expect drastically higher fees for garbage disposal and water. The Ostholstein (ZVO) purpose association decided on Wednesday the price increases, which will put a lot of burden on households. The focus is particularly on garbage fees - a real annoyance for many!
What does that mean specifically? If you have an 80-liter organic and residual waste bin, which is emptied every 14 days, you will pay 18.99 euros a month in the future-an increase of 93 cents! The emptying of the paper and yellow tons remains free of charge, but the rising costs for waste disposal are a clear sign of the financial challenges that lie in front of the citizens.
Water prices also increase!
But that's not all! Water prices are also increasing: the labor price climbs by eleven cents to 2.68 euros per cubic meter. For a three-person household with an annual consumption of 120 cubic meters, this means an annual additional burden of 13.20 euros. And the fees for dirty water also increase to 3.62 euros per cubic meter. The cost of rainwater increases from 50 to 79 cents per square meter of paved area - another slap in the face for the residents!
The ZVO justifies these increases with necessary investments in the infrastructure. In 2025, a total of 80 million euros are to be spent on modernizing channels, sewage treatment plants and pumping stations. ZVO spokeswoman Katharina deficiency and association leader Frank Spreckels emphasize that these measures are essential for a crisis-resistant and efficient infrastructure. But citizens have to pay the bill - a bitter price for the future!
