Heroes of the Baltic Sea: 130 rescuers receive flood honor in Eutin!
Neustadt in Holstein, Deutschland - A devastating storm deep put the Schleswig-Holstein Baltic Sea coast into a state of emergency on October 20, 2023! The flood of centuries rose the water levels at record height, destroyed promenades and houses and led to dramatic damage. Streets and rails were temporarily impassable, which still tightened the situation. In the middle of this chaos there were countless emergency services and volunteers ready to protect the population and carry out important security measures.
District Administrator Timo Gaarz praised the impressive number of helpers who tirelessly campaigned for the community: "You are the" we "of Ostholstein!" In order to appreciate their tireless efforts, 130 committed helpers were awarded the "Prime Minister" in a solemn ceremony with the "Flood Order 2023" of the Prime Minister. This award is not only recognition, but also a sign of thanks for the heroic performance during the catastrophe.
The heroes of the flood
The honored are eight helpers of the psychosocial emergency care (PSNV), 42 from the German Red Cross (DRK), 31 from the technical operations management (Tel), 37 by the Technical Aid Agency Neustadt and Eutin (THW) as well as five information and communication (IUK). In order to maintain the flood honor, the helpers had to contribute to the coping of the Baltic Sea flood for at least eight hours from October 20, 2023.
