Voluntary heroes: Ostholstein distinguishes committed citizens!

Bad Schwartau, Deutschland - Ostholstein counts on people who are committed to their community and thus promote values such as cohesion and support. It is therefore not surprising that a very special honor took place last evening in the district administration in the Ostholstein Hall. The awarding of the Badge of Honor of the district of Ostholstein, an award that honors outstanding voluntary work, gathered numerous guests, including members of the district council and mayor from the various communities.

The district president Petra Kirner emphasized in her opening speech how important the voluntary commitment is: "Voluntary commitment is the backbone of a solidary and lively society. It connects. It is the invisible adhesive that holds our society together." These words reflect the goal of the event: to make the great work of citizens visible.

The honored were four special personalities who have made a name for themselves in a wide variety of areas.

Hannelore Witt from Bad Schwartau, an 80-year-old lady, has been active in workers' welfare for many years and is particularly committed to refugee aid and other projects that aim to create communication rooms and combat loneliness. It is a prime example of the strength that grows out of volunteering.

Frithjof Wittrock from Heiligenhafen was also awarded. At the age of 78, he has headed the adult education center there for over two decades. His commitment has resulted in the VHS under its aegis to grow to around 100 courses annually. He also organizes lectures in the local museum - an initiative that attracts numerous people.

Another outstanding citizen is Klaus Nentwig, 81 years old, who was the first chairman of the Bad Schwartau citizens' association for over 24 years. His tireless efforts not only shaped the club, but also promoted numerous projects, such as the foundation of the community foundation and the organization of festivals in the spa park.

Last but not least, Klaus Kohlsaat is recognized from Gesignorf, who is also involved in his community in many ways. He worked in various organizations, including the fire brigade and the sports club, and campaigned strongly for the holiday pass campaigns of the Lensahn office.

The event was accompanied musically by Werner Mihm, Joachim Krämer and Martin Lichtmann, which gave the solemn ambience additional shine. This annual award is an important part of culture in Ostholstein and calls on to submit suggestions for future awards.

Every year East Holsteiner may be nominated about the badge of honor. This usually happens in winter by calling to submit the suggestions. The preliminary phase is crucial to ensure that the outstanding services of the citizens are recognized and serve as inspiration for others.

The awarding of the badge of honor is therefore not only a sign of recognition, but also an important element to strengthen social interaction in Ostholstein. Committed citizens such as Hannelore Witt, Frithjof Wittrock, Klaus Nentwig and Klaus Kohlsaat are the lively testimony to how important voluntary work is for society. At a time when individualism is often in the foreground, they offer a valuable perspective beyond your own box.
