Schleswig-Holstein: All-day care in danger-506 million euros are missing!

Alarm mood in Schleswig-Holstein! Martin Habersaat, the SPD MP, hits his hands over his head: "When expanding all-day care in schools, there are massive problems!" With an application volume of a whopping 506 million euros, only 196 million euros in funding is available. And that's not all - 161 school authorities have not even tried to make the urgently needed funds!

From the school year 2026/27, all children have a legal right to all -day care. But the state government has no shimmer of how high the actual financial needs will be. Habersaat urgently warns: "We have to improve the educational opportunities of our children and at the same time secure the care options for the parents!" An outcry of the concern that echoes through the corridors of the educational institutions!

Chaos when submitting the application

The SPD parliamentary group already described the procedure for submitting the application as "harassment" in September. Digital submissions were not possible! Instead, representatives of the municipalities had to stand in front of the mailbox of the Investment Bank snake on September 1 at midnight. The order of the applications was determined by the laying of the envelopes in the mailbox - a bureaucratic chaos that reminds of the most absurd comedies! Officials with "cooling bags and folding chairs" waited patiently to submit their applications in good time, while the state government talked out with excuses.

A Sunday as the start date for the application deadline? This was not planned, but the result of a shift. The concerns about all -day care are growing, while those responsible in the state government apparently lost overview. It remains to be seen whether the conference planned on November 23, under the motto "Design good full day - develop quality together", brings the urgently needed solutions. Hope dies last!
