Night of Hope: Contemplative hours in the Neumünster to Advent

A radiant light illuminates the Neumünster in Würzburg, while the "Night of Hope" captivates people on Saturday, November 30th. From 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., the event invites you to get in the mood for the Holy Year 2025. In the middle of the hectic pre -Christmas period, with busy shopping streets and a festive atmosphere, many visitors find a moment of silence. Candles are distributed and the sounds of organ music create an atmosphere of reflection and prayer. "It was nice!" The helpers hear while people leave the church with a smile.

a feast of silence and hope

Inside the church, the silence of meditative music and impulses on topics such as "night" and "hope" is accompanied. Visitors can stick their thoughts on postcards and take small memorabilia with them, such as key rings in the form of an anchor. In front of the altar, where the Eucharistic bread in the monstrance is enthroned, countless candles flicker and create a sea of light. The Kilianskrypta offers a retreat for deeper silence, while there is the possibility to get into conversation with pastors.

Bishop Dr. Franz Jung opens the night with an impressive pontifical service. In his speech, he addresses the current crises - from the conflicts in the Middle East to the energy crisis - and emphasizes the message of the Advent: "Especially in times of crisis, God is closer to us than we think." He encourages those present not to lose themselves in distractions, but to pray in silence and to draw strength. "Watch and pray so that the gentleman will come into your life in these weeks," he concludes his moving words.
