Lübeck in the congestion comparison: drivers benefit from fewer delays!

A current analysis by Inrix, Inc. shows gratifying news for drivers in Lübeck. According to the report The HL-Live , the Lübeck are less frozen in traffic jams than in previous years. In 2024, Lübeck fell from 8th place to 30th place in the Germany -wide comparison of the most duplicable cities.

The traffic data of more than 900 cities worldwide was evaluated. Lübeck now occupies 221st place in the global ranking, which means a relapse from 185 place two years ago. Drivers in Lübeck spent around 32 hours in traffic last year, which corresponds to a significant decline compared to 41 hours two years ago. The financial losses from traffic jams also fell to around 348 euros per driver, compared to 411 euros two years ago.

comparison with other cities

worldwide, Istanbul leads the ranking of the most steady cities, where drivers are stuck on average 105 hours a year. New York City and Chicago follow 102 hours each, while London comes to 101 hours. In contrast, the data for Germany show that drivers spent an average of 43 hours in a traffic jam, an increase of three hours compared to the previous year, such as Inrix reported.

However, there are good prospects for the future in Lübeck: With the end of the station bridge and the absence of larger construction sites, the traffic situation could continue to experience relaxation. For 2025, the renovation of Moislinger Allee as well as the Geniner Straße and the conversion of the Ratzeburger Allee to the Radschnellweg are planned.
