Burglary series in Ostholstein: two men caught in custody!
In 2024, burglary theft in Ostholstein and in the neighboring district of Plön increased significantly. The police have become known to the police until the end of August 58 burglaries in commercial properties, cafes and restaurants, which resulted in total damage of over 200,000 euros. Especially in cities such as Lübeck, Eutin, and Scharbeutz, the perpetrators were active in different constellations, such as Reporter reported .
On November 20, 2024, two main suspects, a 29-year-old and a 31-year-old from Lübeck and Ostholstein, were arrested and have been in custody since then. They are accused of having committed severe theft in more than 27 cases. Investigators attributed the arrest to extensive research, in which witness information and video evidence were spotted, which the men were able to film in changing machines when paying larger cash sums. The investigation, which is coordinated by the Lübeck district criminal inspection, also targeted seven other suspects aged 22 to 39, which may also be involved in the burglary series, which NDR reported .
The perpetrators used various methods such as prying windows and doors to get into the apartments and shops. After intensive investigations, in which various crime scenes, including Hohenfelde and Laboe, have been examined, there is now an urgent suspicion that the suspects are responsible for these burglaries in a number of coordinating actions. The police have also secured some crime tools and continues to determine to establish further connections between the suspects and the acts committed. The investigation has not yet been completed, and the police have undertaken to withhold further information on the basis of the ongoing procedures.
