Warning strike in the Plön district: Buses stop until Wednesday!
In the Plön district, there is an alarm mood! The buses stand still by Wednesday! A three -day warning strike by VKP transport companies forces commuters and students to switch to other transport options. The ver.di union has initiated this drastic step, and the effects are devastating: all bus trips, including school transport, are canceled! The locations Plön, Preetz, Schönberg, Lütjenburg, Bornhöved and Kiel are affected. The VKP warns on its website that the entire bus connection in the circle is paralyzed.
union fights for fair wages
The reason for this massive strike? Collective bargaining for a new nationwide railway collective agreement, which also affects the drivers of the VKP. The union calls for a wage increase of 350 euros per month with a term of only twelve months. "What has been on the table so far is far from sufficient to reward the employees fairly," explains Markus Jakupak, the union secretary. He appeals to the passengers: "Do you understand! We are fighting for a strong public transport and against the lack of staff!"
The negotiations concern around 5,500 employees in six federal states, including Schleswig-Holstein. While the employers' association AGVDE offers an increase of only three percent from April 2025 and an inflation compensation of 600 euros, ver.di is dissatisfied with these offers. However, the collective bargaining dispute in the private bus industry in Schleswig-Holstein has nothing to do with this warning strike. The Situation remains tense and the future of local public transport is on the brink!
