Empty shops and high rents: Schleswig-Holstein's city centers suffer!
In Schleswig-Holstein there is an alarm mood: the inner cities are fighting against massive vacancies! More and more retailers are withdrawing, while rental prices are shooting through the ceiling and the purchasing power remains stagnating. But there is hope! Cities such as Lübeck, Kiel and Neumünster rely on creative concepts with the motto "Experience instead of a shopping frenzy" to regain customer currents. Despite these efforts, numerous shops are still empty in many places.
At the same time, the pressure on industry can be felt: IG Metall coast has proclaimed a warning strike that started last night. Workers in the metal and electrical industry in Schleswig-Holstein, especially in Kiel and Flensburg, are called to put down their work. In the planned demonstrations on Tuesday morning, the unions expect the voice of employees to be heard for increases in wages of seven percent and more training allowance. Solidarity is strong and the streets should become the setting of the protest!
Flensburg in the dark
In Flensburg, a technical failure causes confusion: the street lighting was completely canceled on Monday evening! After a defect in the central tax calculator, many lamps could not be reactivated on Tuesday morning. A spokesman for the Stadtwerke reveals that brave employees manually restore the lighting at critical points. But in many parts of the city it remains dark and scary.
